BRIEF HISTORY
SOCIETAS FILII DIVINAE PRAESENTIAE MISSIONARII was revealed through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and by the direction of Jesus the Spouse of the Church, in 2010, to Utazi Prince Benignus Zereuwa of the Holy Eucharist, belonging to the Society of Two Hearts of Love, for the consolation of the afflicted, taking care of the mentally challenged people, abandoned and frustrated Children, and to care for the sick and the aged in the society; for the good and welfare of the Church, and to assist in the education and evangelization of mankind and the salvation of all souls.
The motto of the Societas Filii Divinae Praesentiae Missionarii is: In Praesentiae Dei (In the Presence of God); and the response is: Est Plenitudinem Laetitiarum (There is Fullness of Joy).
The logo is a circle containing two other circles; the innermost one has a “Y” with the inscriptions: creation (creatio), redemption (redemptio) and sanctification (sanctificatio), referring to the work of the Triune God, the Divine Presence, which are made present to us through the Divine Word Incarnate. The background of the logo is white, signifying purity, love, holiness and charity; and the colour of the “Y” inscription is red, signifying martyrdom. The brown colour of the outermost circle signifies untiredness which the members have in carrying out their apostolate.
OUR MISSION AND VISION
· To assist the mentally deranged, housing them and taking care of them;
· To re-kindle God's love and care in the life of the afflicted, the aged and the sick;
· To alleviate the sufferings and pains of men and women of our time, in love and care within our reach;
· Sharing the word of God and motivational ideas with them with the less privileged and afflicted;
· To prepare the afflicted, the abandoned, the less privileged in the Society as heavenly candidate in life and in death. By so doing, they will remain faithful and grateful to God and become fulfilled by the consolation of Jesus and the help of Our Lady’s perpetual help.
· More so, we are called to express and live out the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The spirituality of Societas Filii Divinae Praesentiae Missionarii is to re-kindle God's love, presence and consolation and Our Lady’s Perpetual Help, in the life of the mentally challenged, the afflicted, the aged and the sick. (Isaiah: 61; I-3). We are called to identify with others: Rejoicing with them when they are rejoicing, and weep with them when they weep. We are a community that is committed to the person of Jesus Christ and to His teaching. We accept and believe the testimony of His apostles who were His first disciples and eye witnesses of His life, death, and resurrection. To love God and humanity through the devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help and his Son whom we vow to follow step by step; and to seek perfection in our temporary lives through Contemplation, Works of Mercy, Prayer, and Evangelical Counsels.
Thus, the spirituality is characterized by poverty, love of preaching, devotion to truth, giving charity to those in need, striving towards Christian perfection in community life, and liturgical prayer; and separation from worldly concerns, finding God in the Orphans, the sick, the aged, the mentally deranged, the downtrodden and the rejected ones in the society.
OUR CHARISM
The charism of Societas Filii Divinae Praesentiae Missionarii is to bring God’s love, presence and Consolation to the people of God, through Contemplation, Works of Mercy, Prayer, Eucharistic Adoration, Sacrifice and Evangelical Counsels. Through these means, the members reach out to the people of God and to God. The members must live a Community life and wear the habit always; dedicate themselves to prayer and the passion of Our Lord, devotion to the Mass and to the Blessed Sacrament. These are the very reasons why the Society of Filii Divinae Praesentiae Missionarii exists and operates; the unique way through which the brothers return God’s love to Him and to the people they are called to serve.
The members are God’s special gifts to the Institute, to the Church and to the world at large. They are souls formed by God to have great love of Him and to work together in the Institute. The personal charism with which God blesses them is the gift with which God blesses the Congregation, the entire Church and the entire human race. Societas Filii Divinae Praesentiae Missionarii receives the members and all their charism with gratitude, thanksgiving and in praise of God.
OUR APOSTOLATE
The apostolate consists of the following:
· To shelter and take proper care of the mentally deranged
· To console the oppressed
· To care for the sick and aged.
· To make them feel the warmth of God’s love and Our Lady’s perpetual help.
· To praise and worship God daily whether it is alone or in community, and to recite daily the Office of the Hours.
· To host retreats, seminars and courses and maintain retreat houses for this purpose.
· To intercede in prayer for all those, who are in need and also, for peace in the world.
· To perform works of charity, pastoral ministry, and mission. Brothers who want to engage in military, paramilitary, police, naval and air force services and teaching service are permitted to do so.
· Most of these will be achieved through our schools— nursery, primary, secondary and tertiary; Orphanage homes and clinics; homes for the aged and mentally challenged; nursing; industrial production of candles, altar bread, table water factory etc.
· To train personnel for interreligious dialogue and modern means of evangelization.
Their life, vocation, mission, prayer and work center on the Divine Charity, the core ministry of the Holy Trinity, the Godhead. The law governing and guiding them is always the law of Divine Charity. Thus, their eternal reward is the Divine Charity.
The apostolate is seen as teaching and hospital. The teaching aspect consists of parish catechism, youth apostolate, media evangelization and interreligious dialogue. The hospital aspect consists of care for the aged and care for the mentally challenged. These can be summarized as communication, care for the vulnerable (the elderly, the sick and the children), and helping the church in need (especially in supplying priests).
