HOMILY FOR OCTOBER 1 2020, SOLEMNITY OF OUR LADY, QUEEN AND PATRONESS OF NIGERIA

*HOMILY FOR OCTOBER I SOLEMNITY OF OUR LADY QUEEN AND PATRONESS OF NIGERIA* Isaiah 11:1-10 Psalm 71(72):1-2,7-8,12-13,17 Ephesians 2:13-18 Matthew 2:13-15,19-23 Dear Sisters and Brothers, today is the Celebration of the Solemnity of Our Lady, Queen and Patroness of Nigeria. Therefore, the memorial of Saint Theresa is shifted to the 3 rd of October for us here in Nigeria. Today is the 60 th birthday of Nigeria. Today, we remember the day Nigeria had her independence since 60 years ago. Truly, as Nigerians celebrate her Independence anniversary, we are forced to ask the germane, relevant and valid question: Is Nigeria really independent, both in “sensu stricto et sensu lato” of INDEPENDENCE? The answer from any adult with good reasoning in Nigeria, will be NO. There is no doubt that many have said that Nigeria is close to Hell Fire; for that, Satan will not punish Nigerians if they find their way to Hell Fire. So funny. ADMISSION AND FORMATION IN SOCIETAS FILII DIVINAE PRAESENTIAE MISSIONARII

ADMISSION AND FORMATION FORMATION Art. 106. Persons who come to Societas Filii Divinae Praesentiae Missionarii are souls formed by God and who are willing to work with us, to bring people to the love of God in Societas Filii Divinae Praesentiae Missionarii. It is God Himself who brings the members to His Divine Charity. The general condition for the admission of any person as a member of Societas Filii Divinae Praesentiae Missionarii is the great Love of God and missionary zeal. Our Divine Lord said: it is not you who chose me. It is I who chose you. St John wrote: “Beloved let us love one another; for God is Love. In this was manifested the love of God towards us, because God sent His only Begotten Son into the world, that the members might live through Him. Herein is Love, not that the members loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, the members ought to love one another. N...

ROSARY

Why Pray the Rosary? Posted by Edward Sri on 4/11/18 7:00 AM Many great popes, saints, and Christian leaders have exhorted us to pray the rosary. It’s a powerful prayer, they say, one that can change your life, strengthen the family, bring peace to the world in a time of crisis, and win the salvation of souls. But does the average person experience the rosary this way? Many Catholics, unfortunately, have the impression that the rosary is not relevant for them. It might be a sacred prayer for very religious people—priests, religious sisters, and exceptional Catholics—but not for “an or...

BECOMING A CATHOLIC PRIEST

BECOMING A CATHOLIC PRIEST The  Catechism of the Catholic Church  (CCC 1565) states, through the sacrament of Holy Orders priests share in the universal dimensions of the mission that Christ entrusted to the apostles . The spiritual gift they have received in ordination prepares them, not for a limited and restricted mission, but for the fullest, in fact the universal mission of salvation, to the end of the earth prepared in spirit to preach the Gospel everywhere .   Thus, Priesthood is a sacred vocation within the Catholic Church, one that is not simply chosen by an individual, but a gift given to them from God. It is not to be confused with a career, but is a profound way of life that forever marks the person ordained. The primary purpose of priests is to share in Jesus’ mission of evangelization, bringing the Gospel to all people. Just as Jesus chose 12 men to share in his unique mission, the Church chooses men who will continue that mission.   ...
